Sonja B. Wilson, Ph.D, JD, MST, MEd, MEcon, CPA, EA
Manager, Tax Learning
Sonja began her career as a high school mathematics teacher. After two years in the classroom, she discovered a passion for taxation and the law, prompting her to pursue a J.D. and later a master’s degree in taxation. Upon completing her legal and tax studies, she returned to her first love—teaching—and went on to serve as a university professor, instructing courses in Accounting, Business Law, and Taxation.
Today, Sonja is an attorney and CPA, as well as an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA). Her academic achievements include a doctorate in Organizational Leadership, a B.S. in Secondary Education–Mathematics, a B.S. in Public Accounting, a Master of Taxation (MTX), a Master of Education (MEd), a Master’s in Economics from Johns Hopkins University, a J.D., and a Ph.D.
Education is Sonja’s greatest passion. She is energized by helping students succeed in subjects they once believed were out of reach. She embraces diverse learning styles and teaching methods, believing that any approach that supports student success is worthwhile. She is also deeply committed to curriculum development and has authored or developed accounting and taxation materials for several top universities, Becker CPA, and UWorld.
Born and raised in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Sonja still resides just a short distance from Greenville. Her hometown remains central to her identity; even while attending law school in Columbia and later studying at Georgia State University in Atlanta, she commuted daily for years to remain close to home.
While teaching fuels her professional purpose, the loves of her life are her husband, Lewis, and her daughter, Krystal. In her free time, Sonja enjoys reading, research, and writing.
