DESCRIPTION
This module is designed to provide participants with the background, insight, and hands-on experience to serve accounting services clients whose needs include financial statements that are subject to the AICPA Accounting and Review Services Committee’s (ARSC) Statement on Standards for Accounting and Review Services (SSARS). Emphasis is placed on differentiating the performance of accounting assistance services from performance of SSARS-related services for engagement documentation, engagement management, and billing purposes.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Differentiate client accounting services from preparation, compilation, and review services
- Perform accounting services to convert a client’s cash basis or income tax basis records to comply with U.S. GAAP for the purposes of preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Perform simulated compilation procedures on a prototype set of financial statements
- Identify the differences in procedures between a compilation and a financial statement review engagement that is compliant with SSARS 25
