DESCRIPTION
This module provides participants with the use of automated tools and techniques in auditing, including the use of AI tools. Through interactive activities and discussions, participants will become familiar with opportunities to leverage technology on their engagements, as well as potential pitfalls to watch for. Participants will consider what steps may need to be taken to utilize AI tools in a responsible and reliable manner in a professional environment, including considering security and data quality concerns. Finally, the module will discuss how data analysis tools combined with storytelling can lead to improved audit procedures and documentation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify opportunities to use data to identify patterns and evaluate relationships in an audit
- Evaluate whether data is fit for the intended use in audit procedures by considering source systems, controls over data generation, and relevance to the assertion being tested
- Use AI tools responsibly in an audit context by identifying appropriate use cases, recognizing limitations and risks, and maintaining professional skepticism and auditor judgment when evaluating AI-assisted output
