Dave Rounds

Instructor, Tax

Prior to joining the 20-20 Tax Training team as an instructor, Dave spent six years as a CPA in public practice, working at small boutique firms and a large national firm. There, he spent his days helping entrepreneurs navigate the unique challenges of running small to medium-sized businesses. Before his time in public accounting, he spent five years growing an IT startup company as their office manager.

Along with his obvious passion for delivering entertaining and educational experiences, Dave brings with him a wealth of varied experience. Dave is the owner of Sisu Business Services, a business coaching company – named after the Finnish concept of sisu, a mix of determination and perseverance – which offers guidance for young professionals and entrepreneurs in the early years of their business ventures.

Dave has earned bachelor’s degrees in both accounting and economics with honors from the Anisfield School of Business at Ramapo College, where he returns each year to speak to business students about successfully entering the workforce and furthering their personal growth. In his other volunteering ventures, Dave founded the Young Professionals Network at the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2014 and chaired the committee through 2020. He also currently volunteers as the co-chair of the Emerging Leaders committee of the New Jersey Society of CPAs Bergen County chapter.

In his free time, Dave strives to be a modern-day Renaissance man, working to master many different skills. To that end, he races motorcycles, practices Muay Thai, modifies cars, edits and creates videos, performs voice acting work, plays the trumpet, and can officiate weddings. He has also been an avid gamer for 30 years. As Dave says, “We only have a limited time on this Earth. It’d be a shame to miss out on something you might love before time’s up.”
