DESCRIPTION
This course tackles the complex principles of accounting for share-based payments by translating challenging, technical concepts into comprehensible, bite-sized applications through an extensive case study and group discussions. The participants are exposed to a brief, high-level understanding of liability vs. equity classifications before diving deeper into AU-C 718 to determine the classification, vesting, measurement, and recognition of the share-based award.

- Define share-based payments and properly classify these arrangements on the financial statements
- Identify the three vesting conditions as defined under AU-C 718 and examples of each condition
- Compare the graded and cliff vesting types, including time-based, milestone-based, and hybrid vesting
- Evaluate the effects of vesting conditions and types on the fair value measurement of the award
