DESCRIPTION

This module provides participants with an understanding of the audit documentation standards. The module opens with an activity to demonstrate the negative impact of poor or incomplete documentation, before moving on to an overview of the specific requirements of AU-C 230. Participants will receive instruction on how to label and organize a substantive workpaper section and how to build an effective, well-laid out audit workpaper via hands-on practice through small group activities.

  • Describe the basic principles and requirements for audit documentation
  • List and discuss strategies for creating complete, compliant, and reviewer-friendly documents and sections
  • Prepare documentation demonstrating that audit procedures have been performed to adequately address relevant risks of material misstatement
